Announcing our newest patient support program

“Fridays with Ana and Friends”

As we welcome summer, we are excited to kick off our newest program bringing smiles to patients and caregivers.
On May 5th, we presented our new patient wellness cart with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the NIH Clinical Center’s 3NW and NE cancer units. We were honored to have Dr. James Gilman, Mr. Daniel Lonnerdal and Mr. Jerry Sachs along with members of the clinical center nursing staff and administration to help us kick off this wonderful program.

“Fridays with Ana and Friends” was created in honor of former NCI patient Ana Longenderfer, whose family has partnered with Friends to support NIH patients. Ana was a beautiful and courageous young woman who was grateful for the care she received at the NIH clinical center. Her wishes were to provide comfort and respite to patients while they were receiving treatment.
Friends at NIH is honored to support patients in this special way…in memory of Ana.

In partnership with Ana’s Impact and the support of our generous donors we will be providing weekly rounds of comfort items such as toiletries, snacks, crossword puzzles, arts/crafts and word find/coloring books to patients in the adult cancer units of the clinical center.
